Cal2You started with the realization that a regular paper calendar on the refrigerator was not meeting the needs of the modern day family. The modern family is constantly on the go, and many are blended. We knew that being web-based would allow all family members to access the calendar from anywhere- at home, in the office, or on a web enabled device.
The next issue to address was the hassle of people having to take the information they were receiving from multiple sources and manually putting them into their calendars. With that in mind, we designed a system where events would be AUTOMATICALLY entered into Cal2You. Not only that, the event will be linked to the specific family member who was affected. Each individual family member has their own calendar page, which is combined on the main calendar page.
Once we had events automatically being added, immediate notification became possible. As well, the system could now check for conflicts. We developed a system of alerts to show three different levels of conflict. Now, problems could be solved as soon as they arrived.
From an organizational perspective, the number one complaint constantly heard is that of communication and scheduling. Members feel they are not being kept up to date. There is too much of a delay between an event being added, deleted, or changed, and the member being notified. Cal2You wanted to change all that. As soon as an event is added/deleted/changed in the organization's calendar, Cal2You members' calendars are immediately updated. Conflicts are recognized and members can quickly find solutions to scheduling issues Not only that, but if there is a sudden change to the schedule, then by putting it into the Cal2You system, members automatically receive a red flag.
Lastly, we wanted a way for organizations to be able to track who will be attending events. That's where our RSVP function comes in. When using this feature, members are asked to reply to those responsible about their attendance.
As parents of active kids and being on the board of numerous associations, Cal2You was developed with our needs, as well as those around us, in mind. We wanted to be using Cal2You as soon as it started being developed. This is an Idea whose time has not only come, but who is overdue.
